CINDY’S YOGA JOURNEY
Cindy’s personal journey of transformation began almost two decades after she was first drawn to practice yoga for relaxation.
She began to recognize that change was required –her posture suffered from sitting at a computer, she was not sleeping from the stress of being over-busy, and her life generally lacked balance and inner peace.
Step by step, with the help of a teacher, Cindy improved these difficulties.
Cindy is dedicated to sharing what she has learned with any student, whether the goal is to alleviate a physical pain, manage a chronic condition, let go of fears and anxieties.
She has a particular interest in supporting the mental health community and seniors.
CINDY’S STUDIES
Since July 2016, Cindy has been studying yoga directly with Chase Bossart, Director of the Yoga Well Institute, who was a direct student of Śri T.K.V. Desikachar (See Source of the Teachings below). She focuses on deepening her expertise on a variety of topics including asana, breath and meditation techniques, textual bases guiding the proper application of yoga techniques, Vedic chanting, Yoga Sutras Books One, Two, Three and Four, as well as the Bhagavad Gītā. She also studies Ayurveda, yoga’s “sister science.”

THE SOURCE OF THE TEACHINGS
Śri Krishnamacharya (1889-1999), “the father of modern yoga”, was a yoga master, scholar, knowledgeable about Ayurveda, and a devoutly spiritual man. He taught that when the tools of yoga are correctly applied to the individual needs of the student, personal healing and transformation can result in all dimensions of the student’s being - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.
Śri T.K.V. Desikachar (1938-2016), Sri Krishnamacharya’s son and most longstanding student, served as an important channel through which the teachings flowed into the West because of his fluency in English and also his humility, wisdom and personal integrity. Today, Desikachar’s teachings remain accessible through his many cogent writings and former students teaching throughout the United States, Europe and India.
