Q: How is Individual Yoga different from a group class at a studio?
A group class at a studio is a great place for seeing friends and having a generalized yoga experience. In an Individual Yoga session, the Cindy works one-on-one with you and adapts a yoga practice tailored to your specific concerns.
Cindy will teach you how to do the practices during the sessions and you will do the practice at home on a daily basis.
Q: What if I am too busy to do the practice every day?
For many new students, creating the time to do the practice and developing the consistency of a daily practice is an important step. Cindy will discuss your daily schedule with you and work with you to find the time that works best for you, and guide you on the inevitable obstacles that will arise. The yoga texts teach that you will see benefits if you maintain a regular practice over a period of time.
Q: How often will I meet with Cindy?
In the initial stages, Cindy might meet with you every week. After that, the appointments will be spaced progressively further apart until they are monthly or bi-monthly.
Q: What kinds of things will be included in my personal yoga practice?
The most commonly used tools are postures, breathing, movement, sound, visualization and meditation.
Q: Will a yoga practice conflict with my religious beliefs?
Yoga is not a religion. It is a method for developing the physical, mental, emotional and energetic dimensions of our being into a healthy and balanced state. This often results in a quieting of the mind which most people find will be very supportive of a spiritual practice or one’s existing personal faith.
Q: What if I don’t live near Cindy?
Cindy can work with students online using FaceTime or Skype.
